Private links: how a hidden set of links works

pretty.sexy is an invite-only, private link-in-bio for creators. Each page has two views. The public view shows the links you want everyone to see. The private view shows a second, hidden set, and only people who hold your private link can open it. This page explains how that works, what is different from a password or a lock screen, and what a private link cannot do.

The public view and the private view

Your page has one address. Open it as usual and you get the public view. Open the same address through a private link and you get the private view: your public links plus the hidden set. You choose which links are hidden, and you can give each private link a label so you remember who it is for.

Not a password, not a lock screen

A password gate or a lock screen tells every visitor that something is behind it, and asks them to unlock it. A private link works the other way round. A visitor who does not have your private link receives a page that does not contain the hidden set, so there is no lock to see and nothing to try to open.

What you control

  • Give each person or group their own private link, with a label.
  • Turn a private link off at any time. The next visit through it gets the public view.
  • See how many times each private link was used. We keep totals, not who visited.

What a private link cannot do

Anyone who holds your private link can pass it on. Treat it like a key you hand to a person, not like a lock on the page. If a link goes where you did not intend, turn it off and give your people a new one. Use counts help you spot that.
